Bay Area Grocery Stores Installing Barriers

Some Bay Area grocery stores -- including Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Safeway -- will be installing clear Plexiglass barriers between cashiers and customers to minimize the transmission of COVID-19. However, many structures that are being implemented cover a very limited area, meaning that customers will be able to still lean around the glass, and cash-paying customers may still be transmitting the virus. Although these preventative measures are helpful, epidemiologists still recommend that symptomatic people stay home and limit their contact with others.
