Although cases in the Bay Area had been slowing for the past week, due to a decrease in proper social distancing practices, cases have unfortunately begun to resurge. Alameda County now has the most cases in the Bay Area, surpassing Santa Clara County, which was once the epicenter of the outbreak in the Bay Area. Even though this trend may be caused by an increase in testing capabilities, it is important to maintain proper social distancing, so as to decrease the possibility of COVID-19 transmission.
In order to combat any future spikes in cases, Santa Clara County is offering free testing to all of its residents. Rather than a long swab that goes all the way to the throat, the new test is a self-administered nasal swab, increasing testing accessibility. The testing sites in East San Jose are open from 9AM to 3PM from Monday through Friday, with a testing capacity of around 300 tests.
In other news, Napa County and Solano County have begun moving into new phases of the Stage 2 reopening, maintaining social distancing guidelines.
